ABOUT SEIBA ISSIFU

Seiba Issifu is a researcher, writer, teacher, and career coach. He is a product of Mim Senior High School, located in the Asunafo District of the Ahafo Region, Ghana. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Planning, Land Economy, and Rural Development from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, with First Class Honors; a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) with Distinction from Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre-Sunyani; and a master’s degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University for Development Studies, Tamale. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Geography at Ohio State University, Columbus, and his current research examines the contested socio-political landscapes in Ghana’s artisanal and small-mining (ASM) sector, with a particular focus on the intricate dynamics of the interaction between state policies, local actors’ initiatives, and transnational economies that control and contest the mineral wealth of Ghana. His research seeks to provide theoretically informed and empirically detailed information to shape policy responses capable of managing the delicate tradeoff between economic sustenance, fair resource governance, and sustainable economic development in mineral-rich countries.

With unwavering passion for helping young people to develop their potential for academic and professional excellence through research, seminars, and workshops, Seiba Issifu, along with two other friends, Tuumyeridam Donald and Boachie Asare Armstrong, in 2014 founded Students Empowerment Foundation-Ghana (SEF-GHANA), a non-governmental organization that offers personal development services, including skills development, career coaching, and motivational seminars for young people. Tens of thousands of students in Ghana have had their academic lives transformed through his personal development and career coaching program called “Students Empowerment Seminar.”

Being inspired by his difficulties with learning during his early schooling days, partly because of a lack of books on how to study effectively, the large volume of information in textbooks presented in complex technical language, and being a teacher inspired by the difficulties facing many students in their dream for academic excellence, Seiba Issifu in 2016 founded Asco Publications Limited, a self-publishing organization. With Asco Publications Limited, Seiba Issifu aspires to write and publish quality and well-researched books that teach students the practical study and test-taking skills that are vital for sharpening the brain to deliver amazing results in school but that are not taught in schools.

Seiba Issifu has written seven innovative books not only in study skills, study habits, and test-taking skills but also in areas like economics and geography. Seiba Issifu believes that every student, regardless of current results in school, has incredible potential, and transforming these inner potentials for personal excellence requires a great sense of self-discipline, hard work, a positive attitude, and the right kinds of books. His guiding philosophy in life is “Hard work and self-discipline beat intelligence when intelligence does not discipline itself to work hard.”
