MY FIRST LIFE LESSON FROM THE SUPERMARKET

Life is a supermarket of dreams. You must know what you want, pay the price, and carry only what truly satisfies your soul. Choosing wisely matters because the shelves are full, but not everything is worth the cost

Whenever I visit the supermarket, I am reminded of how much it mirrors real life. Just as a supermarket offers a wide range of items to choose from, life presents us with numerous opportunities, dreams, and possibilities. However, just like in a supermarket, there are guiding principles for acquiring what you truly need in life. The first and most critical principle is knowing what you want.

A supermarket is filled with countless attractive items, and everyone in the store is on a unique mission. For shoppers, it is necessary to know exactly what they need and why they need it before entering the supermarket. Without clarity, there is a high chance of buying items they do not need, wasting their limited money and time. Worse still, shoppers often mimic what others are buying—picking items that bring no real satisfaction or value to them. In life, the same principle applies. Life offers us abundant opportunities and countless paths to pursue, but if we fail to define what we truly want, we risk spending our limited time and resources chasing dreams that are not ours. Like the shopper who returns home empty-handed, not because of a lack of money but a lack of direction, many people go through life aimlessly. They allow the desires and decisions of others to influence their choices, leaving them unfulfilled and regretful.

Knowing what you want in life is like carrying a shopping list into a supermarket. A well-planned list ensures you remain focused on your mission and avoid being distracted by items that are expensive, attractive, yet unnecessary. Similarly, a successful life requires a clear, written list of goals in all areas of your life:

  • Marital Goals: What kind of relationship do you want to build?
  • Financial Goals: What level of financial success do you aspire to achieve?
  • Career Goals: What professional path fulfills your passion and purpose?
  • Lifestyle Goals: What kind of life do you want to live daily?
  • Spiritual Goals: How will you nurture your faith or beliefs?

Having clearly defined goals serves as a constant reminder and compass, keeping you on track when distractions arise. More importantly, when you know what you want, why you want it,and when you want it, you develop F.O.C.U.S. which in my opinion is the ability to Follow One Course Until Successful.

My dear reader, direction is far more important than speed. In life, it is better to move steadily in the right direction than to rush aimlessly. People who know what they want become unstoppable.

  • In a slow world, they run.
  • In a doubting world, they believe.
  • In a quitting world, they persevere.
  • In a chaotic world, they find focus.
  • In a fearful world, they act with courage.
  • In a noisy world, they listen to their inner voice.
  • In a lazy world, they work relentlessly.
  • In a world of excuses, they take responsibility.
  • In a distracted world, they remain committed to their mission.
  • In a hopeless world, they become beacons of hope.
  • In an average world, they rise above mediocrity.

Clarity gives you power, purpose, and momentum. If you want to enjoy true success and fulfillment, start now. Take a pen and paper and figure out what you want in life. Write down your dreams and break them into actionable steps you can take daily. Successful individuals are not necessarily the smartest or luckiest people; they are the ones who know what they want and are willing to work towards it with unshakable focus. Do not allow life to decide for you, and do not let others dictate your dreams. Take charge of your journey.

  • Define what you want.
  • Understand why you want it.
  • Set a timeline for when you will achieve it.
  • Create actionable steps to pursue your goals daily.

Remember, life is like a supermarket: if you don’t know what you want, you’ll either leave with nothing or pick up what others desire. The earlier you figure out your goals, the greater your chances of success. What are you waiting for? Start today! Grab a notebook, define your dreams, and outline the steps to achieve them. It’s never too late to start.
